*WARNING* This work contains scenes of sexual violence and may be unsuitable for some viewers* Choreographer Maguy Marin is no stranger to vivid dances on social and political themes - for more than 40 years she has relentlessly investigated the human condition, and continues with BiT, a deep exploration into the penetration of sexual violence into every day life. The title of BiT refers to the most basic unit of measurement of information, and gives an initial rhythmic drive, after which this arresting work takes shape. Marin’s choreography uncovers how each incremental choice a person makes combines to create a unique impression to the observer. Using the farandole, a collective folk dance passed through generations, as a base, and an exhilarating techno score, BiT escalates through a series of impulses, twists and tensions - from joyous celebration to obsessed frenzy. BiT takes us into the depths of our humanity and questions our individual responsibilities in the turmoil of each passing day.Duration: 60 min
